Wirsol, a company that joined the Rocky Mountain Innovation Initiative in Fort Collins a year ago, plans to build a new 22,000-square-foot building next to the new RMI2 headquarters on 320 E. Vine Drive.
Mark Forsyth, chief executive officer of RMI2, made the announcement Wednesday at the groundbreaking for the new RMI2 building at 320 E. Vine Drive.

Wirsol expects to close on the land this week. Construction should take between 12 and 18 months and will eventually house about 100 employees.

Forsyth said it was a synergistic opportunity. The two facilities will share an outdoor plaza and parking lot.

Wirsol helps install residential and utility grade solar panels.

G.J. Pierman, director of business development for the Wirsol, said last year he looked at several different locations in which to launch Wirsol into the U.S. market, including California and Texas, but decided that Fort Collins had the most to offer his company.

"It was a package decision. We looked overall at the opportunity here, and the presence of RMI2 was one of the deciding considerations," he said.
